Reporting hate crime or harassment
Report to the police
If you are a victim or witness of hate crime or know someone who is, the police want to help. Please report it to the police in any of the following ways:
- 999 in an emergency
- Freephone 0300 123 1212
- From a textphone 18001 0300 123 1212 (or 18000 in an emergency)
- Report to any police station
- Online at www.online.met.police.uk
Report it to your local Safer Neighbourhood Team

Contact StopHate
You can also talk to someone about your experiences of hate crime by contacting StopHate (phone 0800 138 1625). StopHate provide 24 hour support to people who have been affected by hate crime. Victims and witnesses can contact them by phone, text, post or online to report hate crimes, access support and get information. Their website www.stophateuk.org has further information on sources of support.
Council tenants who wish to report hate crime
The council's housing department has a Hate Incidents Reporting Line (020 8871 6829) for council tenants to report hate crimes, anonymously if you wish, as an alternative to the police. See Council housing - Antisocial behaviour and crime
