Sheltered housing
Sheltered housing and extra care housing
Sheltered housing is designed to help residents maintain an independent and active lifestyle in a secure and friendly retirement community with the added security of an alarm service and sheltered housing officer for help and support. Anyone who is aged 55 years or over can apply for sheltered housing.
A points scheme is used to measure prioritise for allocations (see the Housing Allocation Scheme or contact the rehousing section).
Extra care housing is similar to sheltered housing but is suitable for older people who need more care and support. It provides flexible, individually tailored packages of care and support on site 24 hours a day. To qualify for extra care housing in Wandsworth you must be aged 55 years or over and be eligible for help from the council's adult social services department. Decisions as to who should be allocated extra care housing are made by a Joint Assessment Panel which is chaired by adult social services.
For further information, please contact Adult Social Services.
In this section, you will find information about sheltered housing schemes owned and managed by the council, contact details for other sheltered housing providers and information about extra care housing schemes in Wandsworth.
