Our greener borough

Introduction

Greener borough logoThis initiative aims to involve residents, businesses and the council in an environmental challenge.

We want to encourage you to make a personal commitment to protecting the environment. Show that you can make a difference by adopting a more sustainable lifestyle.

What you can do

  • Are you a resident?
Show your commitment to making our borough greener by pledging to make a small change in your daily life. If everyone pledges we can make big savings on energy use, water consumption and rubbish going to landfill.  Pick up a Pledge form from your local library and join the discussion on Project Dirt.

  • Are you a business?
Small Wandsworth businesses have access to support and information from southlondon.biz to become more sustainable and save money.   Email gogreen@southlondon.biz, phone (020) 8947 0055 or visit www.southlondon.biz

Please note this competition has now closed. Small business which are committed to reducing their environmental impact should get involved in the prestigious Green Business Awards, which recognises innovative and committed sustainable practices.

  • Are you a green champion? Please note this competition has now closed. We reward residents and schools that make a special effort to encourage others to be greener. Read about Green Champions Competition 2009.
  • Have you got a green idea?
The Wandsworth Eco Fund has been set up to provide community groups with a share of £5,000 with which to develop green projects. These could be schemes to improve the quality of our local environment, reduce energy use or increase recycling. For information, ideas and to download an application form visit the Project's Eco Fund page on Project Dirt.  Or you can download the application form here.
