Conservation

Our commitment to conservation

We are fortunate to be one of the 'greenest' London boroughs, with parks, open spaces and private gardens covering 40% of Wandsworth.

There have also been a total of 1,600 different species recorded within 27 different habitat types in Wandsworth - so far! Several of these species are either rare or endangered -  including peregrine falcons, black redstarts and stag beetles.

We are consequently committed to preserving such a rich environment. We have over 40 conservation areas and listed buildings in the borough and have developed a strategy for managing and protecting our trees.

You can find out more about what we are doing and what you can do to help in this section. You can also learn more about the conservation areas and listed buildings in Wandsworth and the planning controls that apply to them.
