Carers' Strategy
Overview
We recognise that we live in an environment of constant change. Now is the right time to review our achievements, recognise national and local developments, acknowledge the challenges to be faced and plainly state what we wish to achieve over the next 5 years.
Carers make an enormous contribution to society, and are lifelines to the family, friends, or neighbours who depend upon them. In Wandsworth we believe that Carers should be valued, recognised for the fundamental work that they do, and supported both in their caring role and to have a life outside of caring.Young Carers contribute to society just as adult Carers do. We want to ensure though that Young Carers have an appropriate balance between the caring roles that they undertake and their needs as a child being met.
That is why we have developed the second Strategy for Carers and Young Carers in Wandsworth; a plan that identifies what help Carers and Young Carers need to achieve these aims, and how we can provide this help.
It has been developed by listening to Carers, Young Carers and feedback from professionals; working together to identify a set of quality markers, setting out how Wandsworth Council, NHS Wandsworth, Community Services Wandsworth, the voluntary sector, Job Centre Plus and other partners will provide services and support to Carers and Young Carers over the next five years.
