Carers

If you are a carer, there is help and support available.

Many people do not think of themselves as carers, but if you look after a parent, disabled child, relative, your partner or a friend or neighbour, then you are one of the borough's hidden army of 32,000 carers.

The person you care for may be frail and ill, or have a disability, mental health problem, HIV/Aids or substance abuse issues.

Young carers

Many children and young people are carers. They provide emotional or physical care for a family member.

Carers strategy

The council has published a Carers' Strategy to help carers enjoy their lives outside of caring.
