Commercial Waste Collection Services

Introduction

The council has a duty to arrange the collection of commercial waste upon request and must charge for this service.  However, as our charges are significantly higher than those made by privately operating licenced waste carriers, no requests to collect commercial waste have been received in recent years.

The council encourages all local businesses to reduce waste and recycle as much as they can.  We provide information and advice to  help them do this.  We also provide free environmental support to small and medium sized enterprises improve their waste management and other environmental performance.

A free business Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) service is available via http://www.123recycleforfree.com/

To ensure good value for money, businesses are strongly advised to obtain quotes from more than one licenced waste carrier before entering into a waste collection contract.  However, the cheapest service may not always meet your needs or be sufficiently reliable.

Before including the companies listed in this section, we checked that they are licenced waste carriers, but licences can expire.  You can check whether a company offering waste collection services has a valid licence by calling the Environment Agency on 0800 807060.
