Make a direct payment
You can make an immediate online payment of your council tax or pay back a Housing Benefit overpayment using our direct payment system.
Use the I accept the terms and conditions link at the end of this page to open the council's CIVICA Icon payment facility (this will open in a new window).
You can make a payment in confidence from this website as your information will be transferred over a secure connection.
Council Tax
- Please have your Council Tax account number and debit/credit card to hand.
Housing Benefit overpayment
- If you are repaying your overpayment of housing benefit you will need to quote your invoice number as your reference.
Business Rates
- Please have your Business Rates account reference number and debit/credit card to hand.
Rents
- Please quote your 8-digit rent account reference number starting '250'.
Additional information
- For security reasons we are unable to accept payments of more than £2,000 in a single transaction.

Terms and conditions
There are a few conditions to using this facility and you should only click on "Accept" if you accept these:
- Your payment will take a minimum of 24 hours to reach your account. This includes time to verify your debit card details with your debit card issuer and for payment to be notified to the Council.
- We cannot accept liability for a payment not reaching the intended account due to a customer quoting an incorrect reference number.
- We cannot accept liability if payment is refused or declined by the debit card issuer.
- If the debit card issuer declines payment, the Council is under no obligation to bring this fact to the customer's attention. Customers should check with their bank/debit card issuer to ensure that payment has been deducted from their relevant account.
When you have completed a successful transaction, you will be given a transaction reference number.
The payment web page will open in a new window. When you have completed your transaction, close the window and return to the Wandsworth site which will have remained open.
If you are paying by credit card please note there is a service charge of 1.4%. There will be no charge for debit cards.
