Council Tax and Housing Benefit

Housing and Council Tax Benefits are help with rent and Council Tax payments for people on low incomes. Housing Benefit is also known as a rent rebate for council tenants and as a rent allowance for other tenants.

About us

Our aim is to continuously improve performance and quality of service to our customers.

The Benefits Service is responsible for the assessment of 27,073 Housing and Council Tax Benefit claims within the borough. We deal with a very high level of customer demand for information and advice and the support and advice we give to our customers is important to us.

The Finance Department holds IIP (Investors in People) accreditation for the development of our staff.
