The Professional Centre
Learning Resources Service (LRS)
The Professional Centre is the base for the Learning Resources Service, which contains a vast collection of Curriculum Resources. The Learning Resources Service is available to schools and other educational institutions on a subscription basis. You can select your own resources or make use of the topic request service where a box of resources will be tailored to meet your needs.
- The Curriculum Support Library - provides a wealth of classroom resources to support the National Curriculum. There are more than 100,000 resources to choose from, including fiction and non-fiction books, multicultural and dual language resources; poster packs, videos, audiotapes and CD-ROMs.
- Learning from objects collection - comprises a collection of artefacts and other objects covering historical topics, major world religions, science, technology, plus toys and games and story props for the Early Years. The objects provide an excellent opportunity to enhance classroom teaching and stimulate pupils' interest.
- The Professional Development Library - contains a collection of over 10,000 teacher level resources including books, journals and pamphlets covering all areas of the curriculum and most aspects of the theory and practice of education.
- Media Resources Unit and ICT Suite offer a cost effective way of accessing a wide range of equipment and facilities, which would normally be out of the reach of most schools. This includes video cameras, display boards and other audiovisual equipment including a video-editing suite.
