Developments and Waste Planning
It is essential that new and redevelopments within the borough have adequate and suitable space for storing the volumes of waste likely to arise between collections once they are occupied.
This ensures:
- problems with rubbish being left on a public pavement are minimised
- occupants have space to recycle
- commercial and household waste can be kept separate
- collectors and occupants can gain easy access to waste storage facilties
- Planning guidance for new developments
Wandsworth's supplementary planning guidance on the storage and collection of refuse and recyclables in developments.
Important note:
All developments must comply with the requirements of this document, however, the recycling space requirements detailed at paragraph 20 are out-of-date. Space for 1280-litre recycling eurobins is additional to that provided for refuse storage and must be no less than one third of that provided for refuse. - Making Space for Waste
