Who manages health services in Wandsworth?
Local health services are managed by the Wandsworth Primary Care Trust (PCT) and a variety of specialist NHS Trusts. The main trusts are:
- St George's Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs St George's Hospital
- South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust, which runs Springfield Hospital and community-based mental health services
The Primary Care Trust monitors these trusts to ensure that the money spent is well used and that the service they provide is of a good standard.
The Director of Public Health is employed by Wandsworth PCT and has a responsibility for protecting and promoting the health of the people of the borough and providing health advice to local agencies.
