If you have visited our website before you might be a little surprised to find that there have been some major changes.

We needed to change the site to make sure we meet some government standards but more importantly changing has made the site easier to use, faster and with many more features.

The way people use the internet is changing and today people are excited about Web 2.0 functionality - that is things like YouTube, Google maps, Flickr and Twitter. Our new site allows us to plug in to these developments and be prepared to make use of the next ones to come along.

People also use the internet on the go more and more. Because of this, we have launched a mobile version of the site alongside this one. Most mobile devices will automatically switch over when you come here on the move.

Also available in the new site is the opportunity for people to register an account. This will allow you to save forms that you are completing to request services and define what sort of content you want to see. You will be able to subscribe to email newsletters and have your say on the latest issues in the borough. Longer term you will be able to take part in council consultations and access all your council accounts online.

This big change allows us to continue to develop the site into the future to meet the demands of a online world that's always changing.
