WE PROVIDE 1:1 AND GROUP SUPPORT FOR LGBTQ+ YOUNG PEOPLE

Our qualified LGBTQ+ youth support team work with young people to provide a range of services to best meet needs, including those of trans and non-binary young people. We are based in a number of schools across Wandsworth, Merton and Richmond and we also support young people in community settings.

If you’d like support, please contact us: georgina@free2b.lgbt | 07529 221 239

Free2B policies

We are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our members. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at Free2B and will not be tolerated. If bullying does occur, all young people/children and parent/carers should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively.

Please read our policies to find out more or speak to a member of staff:

Lambeth Listens LGBTQ+

We have been commissioned by Lambeth ICS to carry out a consultation to find out what LGBTQ+ young people want in the borough.

If you live in Lambeth or go to a Lambeth school – please click here to find out more and to get involved!

Trans wellbeing

We deliver a trans well-being peer support group during the school holidays. The group is for trans and gender variant young people to come together in a safe space and explore positive coping strategies and improve well-being.

Working with our trans members we have developed a trans 101 guide.

race & faith

We recognise that there are often additional barriers for queer young people who are black and Asian and those from faith backgrounds. Information can often focus on negative aspects of these intersectionalities and so we are delighted to bring to you a fabulous guide created by our support worker Zari celebrating identities.

The Gap Youth Club

The Gap provides a safe, social space for LGBTQ+ youth aged 13-19 (and up to 25 for young people with learning difficulties and disabilities). The club meets every Friday 6-8pm (safeguarded venue).

We offer a wide range of youth curriculum activities and sessions covering both mainstream youth and LGBTQ+ specific topics as well as special events, off-site trips and even residentials!

If you are a young person or professional wishing to refer to The Gap, please contact us: georgina@free2b.lgbt | 07529 221 239

GAPSTERS

Gapsters is our junior youth group for young people aged 9-14 who are questioning their sexuality and / or gender and those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. The club meets every Friday 4pm-5:30pm (safeguarded venue)

Gapsters provides a safe social space for our junior members to meet other young people, learn about the LGBTQ+ community and most of all… have fun!

Parental consent for those under 13 to attend is mandatory.

If you are a parent or professional wishing to refer to Gapsters please contact us: georgina@free2b.lgbt | 07529 221 239

Wednesday wellbeing

Wednesday Wellbeing is a weekly online LGBTQ+ group, 5:30pm – 6:30pm via zoom

It is a safe space for young people aged 13-19.  We understand the additional complexities of accessing an online group – members don’t have to keep their camera on and can use the chat function or just listen, if they don’t feel like talking.

1:1 Support

Free2Talk is our 1:1 support service for LGBTQ+ young people aged 13-19. We provide a safe space for young people to explore their situations and develop the necessary skills and strategies to manage the difficulties they face. We also provide information and guidance to explore practical support such as gender affirming techniques including safe binding.

  • Improving wellbeing
  • Building personal resilience
  • Reducing isolation

If you are a young person or professional wishing to refer to our mentoring service, please contact us: georgina@free2b.lgbt | 07529 221 239

We recognise that there are barriers preventing many of our members from getting involved. In particular, this impacts black and brown young people, those from faith communities and individuals who are not out at home.

To address this, alongside our fabulous members above, we also have an extended council – Rainbow PowerHouse enabling young people to help us with decision making through online engagement.

Our youth council are always busy working on social action projects as well as supporting Free2B to ensure our services are responsive to needs.

Past and present Gap youth club members and Free2Talk mentees aged 14+ are welcome to apply. For more information and to request an application form, please contact: lucie@free2b.lgbt | 07757 502 726

What do rainbow power reps
Say about us?

  • Often, as a young person, I feel powerless and like my voice doesn’t get heard. Working with other queer young people and making a difference had made me start referring to myself as an activist: a quality I thought I’d only ever aspire to.

    Rainbow Power Rep

  • I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to help direct & administer Free2B’s services….I will always treasure the experience of being able to give something back…

    Rainbow Power Rep

  • I have been able to contribute to a better Gap experience…

    Rainbow Power Rep

  • I did not expect to still be alive at this age, but because of all the care and support I have received from The Gap, and the sheer happiness I gain from being there, I am on track to start at a top 10 university in September which will steer me in the direction of my dream career…

    Gap Member

  • I used to go to the Gap a few years ago and I just wanted to say thank you to you and the other workers at the youth club for making it such a warm and welcoming place. Although I haven’t attended lately it’s something I hold close to me and know I really needed at the time. Thank you for giving me something that school and home couldn’t provide for me.

    Gap Member

  • I’ve been going to the Gap since I was 13. Nicki has helped me through so much. She has helped me come to terms with who I am. She’s always there to talk, she’s helped me through being in love, my first heartbreak. I feel like I can talk to her about anything, she has become like a second mum to me.
