Q: I have some private land outside my shop and have an A-sign which the council says I can have as it's my land. Are there any problems with me putting my rubbish bags there for collection?
Answer:
The new regulations do not stop you storing your rubbish on your own land. However, you still have a legal duty of care to ensure that your rubbish does not cause litter and is not detrimental to the amenities of the area. The new regulations require that all trade waste bags and bins are labelled with your name or that of your waste carrier. In addition, to avoid confusion, trade waste bags must not be black, green, orange or red.
