Q: How long does a claim take to process?
The Benefits Service is responsible for the assessment of over 29,000 Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit claims within the borough. We will try to process your claim as quickly as possible. A notification letter of your entitlement will be sent to you in the post once your claim is assessed.
To make a claim, you can make an appointment to attend our Finance reception. If you bring a fully completed claim form and supporting evidence we may be able to process your claim on the day. You can help us by ensuring you provide all the necessary information with your claim form. If you have not supplied all the information required, we will be unable to process your claim. We will write to you to request this information which means it will take longer for your claim to be assessed.
