Answer:

We are producing a Local Development Framework (LDF) which will eventually replace the adopted Unitary Development Plan (UDP).  The LDF, which will relate closely to our Sustainable Community Strategy, will consist of a series of documents. The most important of these documents is the Core Strategy, which sets out our spatial vision for Wandsworth and a strategy for how this vision will be achieved.

The Core Strategy was adopted in October 2010.

A Site Specific Allocations Document and Development Management Policies Document are also being produced to develop the principles and policies in the Core Strategy in more detail, to see the timetable for LDF documents please see the Local Development Scheme

Draft LDF documents are regarded as part of our emerging policy and will be given due weight and taken into account in decisions on planning applications.

All of these documents must be in general conformity with the London Plan. When adopted, they will, together with the London Plan, constitute the statutory development plan for the Borough. The Planning Portal has produced a Guide to Local Development Frameworks that explains the process in more detail.
