Q: Why do I have an overpayment?
An overpayment is any amount of benefit which has been paid to you that you were not entitled to receive. An overpayment can occur for various reasons, such as:

You have given us the wrong information

You have not told us about a change in circumstances

You have delayed telling us about a change in circumstances
Examples of changes you need to report include:

Starting work

A change of job or a change in the hours you work

A change in the amount of income you get from any benefits that you receive

Moving house

You no longer receive child benefit for a child in your household

A partner moving in with you
