Our Environmental Policy
Consultation
As we believe that sustainability cuts across everything we do, we have produced a new and far reaching statement setting out our Ambition for a Sustainable Future. This builds on previous work and sets out the principles by which the council will be run. It recognises that climate change is one of the biggest threats facing the world today and that we need to reduce our consumption of natural resources.
In addition to the Ambition Statement, we have revised our Environmental Policy, which provides more detail on the issues that we are working hard to tackle.
From next year onwards we will also be reporting on 12 national and three local indicators to monitor progress.
We are interested in your views of the statement, policy, targets and the environmental services we currently provide.
We are running the consultation until 18 November 2009.
Having your say
Please complete our New Environmental Policy consultation questionnaire to let us know your views. Let us know if you think we are wrong, if there is anything important we have missed or if you agree with what we say.
All responses will be considered and the results of this consultation will be reported to the January 2010 Meeting of the Environment and Leisure Overview and Scrutiny Committee. There is also a box to tick if you require a personal response to a specific question.
If you require clarification on any points, please email the Council's Sustainability Policy Officer envpolicy@wandsworth.gov.uk.
What happens next?
We will revise the Environmental Policy in light of your comments and new government policies. We will then produce a detailed action plan which will explain how we will implement the environmental policy; and our Environmental Group - a cross departmental group of officers - will monitor progress. The new policies, plans and updates will be available to download in this section.
