Brighter Living Fair 2025
The Brighter Living Fair events are for adults looking for care and support services in Wandsworth that promote healthy, safe and independent lifestyles.
Once again, this year we are working with local organisations to host lots of community events between Wednesday 1 and Friday 31 October 2025. Coinciding with International Older People's Day and Silver Sunday, we will be celebrating active lifestyles and being connected within your local community. A timetable of events will be published in September to help you plan which ones you might like to attend.
Brighter Living Fund
The Brighter Living Fund was set up in 2022 to support organisations across the borough to host their own Brighter Living event. It aims to help celebrate older residents and make them aware of the wealth of opportunities that exist in their communities to help them stay physically active, socially connected, and fully supported to live healthy, happy lives. This year’s theme is physical activity.
Activity-based events may help to meet the targets set out in our Physical Activity Plan, which was created through partnership working and engagement with residents. It seeks to make best use of existing assets and services, such as parks and sports and fitness centres, whilst also seeking new innovations, collaboration and community-led solutions and activities.
Apply for funding
Organisations and groups who work with older people and adults in the borough are invited to apply for up to £250 to host their own event.
You will need to outline what you plan to do to celebrate International Older People’s Day or Silver Sunday, and how these celebrations will promote physical activity and healthy independent lifestyles.
Events must take place between Wednesday 1 and Friday 31 October 2025.
Event ideas include:
- Organising activity ‘taster’ sessions that your organisation typically offers, to display the range of options available for older people and adults in the community
- Encouraging people to get active in their local community by hiring a yoga or dance instructor
- Organising an event designed especially for adults with sight and/or hearing impairment
- Hosting a healthy cook a long, highlighting how food and nutrition relate to overall health
- Organising a group walk around local parks and nature trails
- Hosting expert led workshops on how to safely maintain physical health, even with limited mobility
- Hosting a rugby related event – extra funding may be available if your activity features a rugby ball (can be a sponge/form ball)
How to apply
The deadline to make an application to the Brighter Living Fund is midnight on Sunday 24 August 2025.
Funding will be decided based on key criteria and ensuring there is an even spread of events across the borough.
