It's European Week for Waste Reduction

You can save £50 per month by reducing food waste.

Whether you're taking part in the £ood Waste Challenge or not, you can still save food (and money) by being aware of how you buy, store and create meals from it.

The Love Food Hate Waste website has hints and tips on how to do all three: including Money-saving tips in the count-down to Christmas.

Squashed bread wraps
From Marlene

If you have bread that's not fresh enough for sandwiches, roll it flat with a rolling pin, fill with cooked chicken, peppers, onion, mayo, mustard and cranberry, put in oven dish and cover with chicken tonight or any sauce, sprinkle with cheese and bake at 180 for 30 mins. Also good for leftover Christmas food.

Too many satsumas and clementines in the fruit bowl?
From Love Food Hate Waste

Use up satsumas, clementines or small oranges from the fruit bowl with this quick pudding. Peel and place the whole fruits in an oven proof dish, sprinkle with a little ground cinnamon, spoon over a tablespoon of Cointreau or whisky and sprinkle with soft brown sugar. Cover and bake in the oven at 180°C (350°F) mark 4 for 40 minutes serve with cream, yoghurt or ice cream.
