Could you run a local business promoting and selling real nappies to help reduce disposable nappy waste?

In partnership with Wandsworth Council, Real Nappies for London (RNfL) are hoping to secure external funding for a Wandsworth resident to promote and sell real nappies and operate a real nappy voucher scheme for expectant parents.  This is in an effort to reduce the c. 3,300 tonnes of disposable nappies that the Council has to dispose of each year at a cost of approaching £0.5m. Whilst this project is still at an early stage, RNfL are now seeking a resident to undertake this role.  The role would not be paid, but would operate as a self-employed business receiving any profit from the sale of real nappies.  Any funding received would go towards setting the voucher scheme up, purchasing an initial stock of real nappies and for initial promotion, but beyond the first year the business would need to be self-sustaining.

Potential candidates should ideally have experience and/or knowledge of operating a very small business and/or real nappies, with a good level of environmental awareness.

If you are interested in this role, please email Hilary Vick at Real Nappies for London at hilary@lcrn.org.uk in the first instance.  More information about Real Nappies for London is at http://www.realnappiesforlondon.org.uk/.
