Wandsworth Radio launches today at 7.30pm

This new, community radio station is being run by local volunteers and will feature a "Green Wandsworth" show from 7pm every Monday, commencing 19th January.

Wandsworth Radio is a new online radio station for the community which launches this evening at 7.30pm.  It is being run by 200 volunteers from across Wandsworth and aims to bring the borough together over shared issues and great music. It will have a wide variety of content, 24 hours a day - from news and current affairs, to specialist music programmes, books at bedtime, and a dedicated Green Wandsworth show which has been supported with a £500 grant from the Wandsworth Eco Fund.

The Green Wandsworth show will be on air every Monday from 7pm, and will focus on local environmental issues from pollution to energy bills, aviation to cycling, not to mention recycling and waste.  The first show will be broadcast on Monday 19th January and will focus on cycling.  Cllr Johnathan Cook, the Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for the Environment will discuss the Council’s role in promoting cycling and a representative of the London Cycling Campaign will be offering top tips on how to stay safe on your bike.  The show will also include recorded interview highlights with London's cycling Czar, Andrew Gilligan and residents will be encouraged to phone in with questions towards the end of the show.

Green Wandsworth will be hosted by Georgina Stevens, a local resident and sustainability expert who has worked on some of the most impactful sustainability campaigns over the last 15 years, including Marks and Spencer’s Plan A, Virgin Atlantic’s Change is in the Air and campaigns for the World Wildlife Fund.
