Recycle Week: Mon 16th – Sun 22nd June

It’s not just the World Cup that’s about to start! National Recycle Week starts on Monday.

If you're planning a World Cup party or big-match barbecue, or even just giving the cooker a rest and ordering in a takeaway to enjoy while you're watching a game, one thing's for sure –World Cup celebrations will create extra waste, the majority of which can (and should!) be recycled. Remember that tins and cans, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, glass bottles and jars, paper and cardboard and drinks cartons can all be recycled in your clear recycling sack or orange-lidded bank.  All you have to do is make sure these items are clean and dry and then put them in your clear recycling sack or orange-lidded bank.

And if you're buying a brand new team football shirt this World Cup, it might be greener than you think as England’s World Cup kit has been made from recycled plastic bottles. So your recycling efforts can be seen both at home and in Brazil!  And it doesn't have to end there - there are lots of textile banks where you can take old, unwanted football shirts and other clothes.
