Growing & Greening- Food Growing for local communities

EcoLocal is looking for 4 communities in Sutton, Croydon or Wandsworth who want to start food growing or have started and need some help. All you need is suitable space and some enthusiatic residents. EcoLocal can provide gardenning support, expertise a

EcoLocal will provide each group with:

• On-site support and a series of 10 action learning workshops to establish, plan, create and maintain a food growing garden across a growing season.

• Training to help volunteers/communities build confidence in their own skills, to enable them to engage and work with others in their community and to plan and promote their food growing project.

• 2 free places on our AQA accredited 6 week food growing course per group, to train key volunteers to give them the confidence and skills to lead the food growing in the future*.

• 2 free places on up to 4 of our one day food growing courses (examples include fruit pruning, container growing, growing mini vegetables, working with herbs, and introduction to keeping bees or chickens) to enable volunteers in each group to gain specialist knowledge, depending on that group’s interests*.

• Funding, in the form of an allocated start up budget of £500 per group (held by EcoLocal), along with a 'continuation fund' of up to £200 per group, which groups can apply to EcoLocal for, to support their second year of growing.
