Your assessment
As part of your assessment to be approved as an adopter, your social worker will take you through a questionnaire which has been developed to guide you through the home study assessment.
It covers the themes which your social worker will discuss with you during your home study. You will be asked to think about particular themes before each interview, and encouraged to write down your responses for our records.
Please do not feel overwhelmed by the task; your social worker will be there to guide and support you. If you are worried about writing down your thoughts let your social worker know so that alternative ways of recording can be discussed with you. For example you might feel more comfortable using a tape recorder.
We know from experience that prospective adopters find completing this questionnaire a very helpful process. It is important that you give your responses the time and thought they require.
Feedback from some of our adopters has been that although the assessment can feel very intrusive, it is actually a very insightful, reflective, and inspiring personal development experience.
