Honours and awards

We hold an annual civic awards ceremony when we recognise the achievements of people who make a significant contribution to the life of the borough, usually in charitable and voluntary activities.

We also make occasional awards of "Freedom of the Borough" to those who have given long and diistinguished service to the Borough, and mark long service by Councillors with the creation of "Honorary Aldermen" when their  terms have ceased.
