Arts Charter

What your charter provides

1 We will help you find out about, or take part in, arts activities in Wandsworth.

2 We will:

  • give you advice and discuss your ideas for arts activities in Wandsworth;
  • help you find people to fund your ideas, and help you to fill in the application forms; and
  • offer a range of ways to help you organise your events, through technical advice, budgeting, publicity, event planning and, in some cases, by jointly promoting events.

3 We will support arts activities in Wandsworth so that voluntary groups can contribute to the artistic and cultural life of Wandsworth in local and community festivals.

4 We will run the Arts About Wandsworth grants scheme so that organisations can apply for funding for their project with three deadlines each year. We will process your application and give you our decision within five weeks of the deadline. Please ask us if you would like an application form. There is a separate funding scheme for film and video production with a single deadline each year.

5 We make sure that you have the opportunity to enjoy or take part in a range of arts activities across Wandsworth, including:

  • tea dances and variety shows;
  • writing and reading development;
  • exhibitions of visual arts;
  • professional dance performances;
  • celebrations for Black History Month, Diwali and other festivals;
  • film, video and photography;
  • drama;
  • music; and
  • local arts activities for local people.

6 We have databases for information about arts, including a register of artists, arts organisations and arts venues, and a guide to Wandsworth's public art. For more information, phone (020) 8871 8711 or email arts@wandsworth.gov.uk.
