The Story of Wandsworth is a permanent display telling the story of the area covered by the present borough of Wandsworth from prehistoric times to the present day.
You can find out how a scattering of rural and riverside communities grew into a bustling London suburb. Throughout history, people from all over the world have made their home in Wandsworth.
This exhibition concentrates on the highlights of the area's history which include:

The Story of Wandsworth has attractive and striking displays and is designed to be fun for all ages with plenty to see and do. There are many interactive exhibits including:
- holding a flint hand axe
- trying on a Roman helmet and;
- making a brass rubbing of a Putney knight
There is a model of central Wandsworth in 1865 which shows the town, the three great mills on the River Wandle and Young's Brewery. There is a Victorian parlour and a chemist shop interior.
