Batteries To dispose of used household or car batteries, please take to Smugglers Way reuse and recycling centre. Household batteries can also be recycled at any Wandsworth library or at The Town Hall. More information

Bicycles Old bicycles can be taken to Smugglers Way civic amenity site for recycling or given to the youth offending teams' bike project.

Take to Smugglers Way civic amenity site/'tip'. The British Heart Foundation will collect large electrical items in working order. More information

Tip: You can use water-based paint to avoid using white spirit and try to buy cleaners and detergents which will have less impact on the environment.
Food waste Fruit and vegetable scraps can be composted at home using a compost bin or wormery. All left over food can be composted using a kitchen composter (including cooked food, meat and dairy). More information.
Fridges and freezers Take to Smugglers Way civic amenity site/'tip' or contact us to arrange a collection.
Furniture Items can also be taken to Smugglers Way civic amenity site/'tip' for recycling. Some charities in the borough offer free collections. More information

Don't forget that you can also compost at home or deliver suitable garden waste to local reuse and recycling centres.
Light bulbs Wrap in newspaper and put in with your household rubbish. try to use energy saving bulbs where possible which will reduce waste and energy use. Flourescent tubes and energy saving light bulbs can be recycled at Smugglers Way civic amenity site/tip

Videos, DVD's and CD's These items can be recycled by taking them to charity shops, along with other unwanted household items. Visit www.recycleforlondon.com to search for your nearest charity shop. Blue Peter are running an appeal to collect re-saleable CD's and DVD's to raise funds for Barnados. Visit www.discdrive.org.uk to find your nearest collection point (Barnado's shops or Lloyds TSB banks). Old DVD's and CD's that can not be reused can be recycled. Visit www.recyclingcds.com
