Location and contact details
You can take your own household rubbish to the following civic amenity sites that are independently run by Western Riverside Waste Authority (WRWA).

Any complaints/enquiries regarding the services provided at the sites should be made directly to WRWA.

There are two sites in the borough:

Recycling facilities
The sites offer a wide range of facilities for recycling. Please try and recycle as much of your rubbish as possible - it will help to sort out recyclable items before you go to the tip. recycling facilities at the Smugglers Way site include car and household batteries, furniture (re-useable and unbroken), garden waste, inkjet cartridges, engine oil, TVs and computers, electrical appliances, fridges and freezers, garden tools, rubble, sand, scrap metal, soil and wood along with the paper, glass, cans, textiles and books that can also be recycled at our recycling sites across the borough.

Register to tip - use of vehicles
You can take your car to either of the sites free of charge. If you are going to be using a van for disposing of your own household waste, you will need to register your details, including the vehicle registration number, your address and the date you plan visit here. Alternatively please contact waste services on (020) 8871 8558. 

If using a van, you must also bring with you the following items:

  • A recent household bill or your driving licence
  • A note of the make, model and registration number of the van
  • Vehicle registration or hire agreement documents
  • Something with your signature on (driving licence, credit card or passport)

Please note

  • Registration must take place 24 hours in advance.
  • Vehicles will only be registered to tip non-commercial refuse
  • To tip any refuse generated from a business a payment must be made at the WRWA weigh-bridge
  • It can be a criminal offence to misuse a free tipping docket or tip commercial refuse without payment
  • A video record may be made of anyone registering to tip
