Green garden waste - sack collection service

On Monday 26th March 2007 we introduced a new service for collecting garden waste for centralised composting.  

To help increase the amount of garden waste that is composted rather then landfilled, we supply special bio-degradable sacks to residents who want their garden waste collected for centralised composting.

We only collect biodegradable garden waste in the sacks, examples include:

• Grass cuttings
• Leaves and twigs
• Weeds, plants and flowers
• Hedge trimmings

Please make sure that material placed in the sacks is no larger than 4 inches in diameter, this will help the composting process.

Please do not place Japanese Knotweed in the garden waste sacks.  Japanese Knotweed is extremely pernicious and difficult to kill.  You can be prosecuted for taking it to centralised composting sites or fly-tipping it.  For advice on dealing with knotweed see the Environment Agency's advice pages or contact them on 08708 506 506.

Service charge
The charge for this service is £17 for a single collection of up to 20 sacks.
