In this section of the Parking Service site you can find out why a parking ticket was issued and what to do about it.

Please note that the the Parking Service is not responsible for the enforcement of parking regulations on some Housing Estates. For more information about housing estate Parking Regulation Schemes (PRS) please visit the Housing Department's website at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/Home/CommunityServices/Housing/services
or see Are you applying for the right permit? for more details on the differences between PRS and controlled parking zones (CPZs).

Parking tickets issued by the council are called 'Penalty Charge Notices'. They require payment of a penalty, and do not result in a criminal record or points on a driving licence. They are separate from Fixed Penalty Notices, issued for criminal offences by the Police and Traffic Wardens. Generally speaking, in Wandsworth Penalty Charge Notices will be issued on all roads except red routes.

Penalty Charge Notices are issued when a driver parks a vehicle in contravention of the regulations. In addition the vehicle may also be removed to the car pound.

The council processes Penalty Charge Notices according to the regulations, which specify the steps we must take in order to recover payment of the ticket. There is also provision for drivers to have a formal appeal against a parking ticket heard by an independent Parking Adjudicator.
