WLSP BME Scoping Group - their findings and next steps
In 2005 the Council got together with its main partners to see how exam results and job prospects for Black Caribbean young men could be improved. The Census showed that this group of people didn't appear to be doing as well as some other groups in the borough.

They looked at national research and the support offered in other places As well as  looking at what support is given in Wandsworth.

They found that Wandsworth schools and services were doing a lot of the most effective things - training sessions for teachers, parents' conferences and a wide range of  mentoring schemes. They also found that the exam results of Black Caribbean young men are improving year on year.

They also asked local Black Caribbean young men what they thought and found that the CV and job hunting workshops on offer need to be widely promoted.

In order to keep making progress the group wants your feedback on their findings and next steps. Their work and proposed next steps is summarised in the document below. Please take a few minutes to read through what they have done.
