Severe weather
Severe weather warnings are issued to local authorities by the Meteorological Office (commonly know as the Met Office). These warnings advise on the probable location and duration of severe weather and are intended to help the public make informed decisions that protect their life, welfare and property.

The Met Office website helps you make sure that you know what to do when severe weather is forecast. For current severe weather warnings and advice see the Met Office website. Severe Weather Warnings are also issued on BBC Ceefax (page 418).
