If you are a member of the Armed Forces, or the husband, wife or registered civil partner of a member of the Armed Forces, you can register either as a Service Voter or as an ordinary voter. The way you choose to register to vote will depend on your personal circumstances. If you are based in the UK and are unlikely to be posted overseas or change address in the next year, you can register to vote as an ordinary voter by filling in the electoral registration form that is delivered to your Wandsworth address between mid-August and November each year. You can register as a Service Voter using the form shown further down on this page. This allows you to be registered at a fixed address in the UK even if you move around. Registering as a Service Voter is particularly useful if you are based overseas or think you may be posted overseas in the next year. Your unit has a designated Unit Registration Officer who will be able to give you more information and advice. Speak with your administration office for contact details. How do I register as a Service Voter? Decide whether you want to vote by post or by proxy (someone voting on your behalf), and complete the applicable part of the form. If you are based overseas you should consider applying for a proxy vote, as there may not be enough time to receive and return a postal vote by close of poll on election day. If your proxy wishes to vote by post on your behalf they need to download and complete and return the form shown below named 'Collection of personal identifiers – proxy postal'. If they do not complete and return this they will have to attend your polling station in person on the day of the election. How often do I register as a Service Voter? If your circumstances change whilst you remain a Service Voter please complete and return a form entitled 'Service voter change of circumstances'. You can obtain this form from your Unit Registration Officer, and you can find out who this is if you contact your administrative office.
