Privacy statement
What we do Our principal activities are to provide a range of government services to local people and businesses by working in partnership with other local authorities and business partners. Our privacy policy covers the website of Wandsworth Borough Council including those parts of the site managed and hosted by other organisations.
Providing visitors with anonymous access You can access our homepage and browse most of the public site without first logging on using a unique personal login. The main Council website does not enable its visitors to communicate with other visitors or to post information to be accessed by others.
Automatic collection of information Wandsworth Council uses Sitestat 4.3 provided by Nedstat Ltd on its website to measure and analyse visitor information. The council may use the information gained to improve its online services to its visitors.
To enable Sitestat 4.3 to function effectively, each page of the website contains embedded code and a cookie will also be placed on each visitor's computer. The embedded code simply adds a uniquely referenced 1x1 pixel clear image to each page and its inclusion has no effect on the layout or functionality of the page. Visitors to the council's website are not obliged to accept the cookie placed onto their computer by Sitestat 4.3. The website will still function normally if the Sitestat cookie is blocked/rejected. For more information on how to maintain your privacy when using Internet Explorer visit www.microsoft.com/athome/security/privacy/default.mspx. Cookie handling for other internet browsers may be different. Please consult your browser's user manual or developer's website for help and guidance. NOTE: Please note that if you do accept our cookies, they will remain on your computer for five years, unless they are manually deleted before then.
Sitestat 4.3 will record which pages are viewed by each visitor. It will also collect various other non-personal data (such as operating system and screen resolution from each visitor's computer). The visitor's IP address (which can be deemed to be personal data in some instances) will also be logged, but will not be used to personally identify any visitor. This information will be aggregated together into anonymous statistical data only.
