Life ceremonies
Introduction Civil ceremonies for namings, the renewal of marriage vows and commitment ceremonies for couples are now available in Wandsworth. These ceremonies are intended for you to have your own unique celebrations at important and significant points in your lives. There is no legal significance to these ceremonies, though at the heart of each, is the opportunity for you, with your invited guests, to make your special personal promises. You do not have to live in Wandsworth to arrange a ceremony. The ceremonies can be held either at the Wandsworth Town Hall or at a selection of suitable venues approved for the purpose (details below). All offer pleasing and attractive surroundings, plenty of attractive photographic opportunities to make memories to share and most important of all the management of each is committed to ensure a happy and enjoyable experience for you. If you are planning to celebrate by partying afterwards the managers at the venues will be happy to discuss arrangements with you. Regrettably there are no catering facilities available within the Town Hall.
To arrange a ceremony at the Town Hall contact 020 8871 6121.
Venues A variety of rooms is available at certain times including the Victoria and Alexandra Rooms at the Register Office, the Grand Chamber and an attractive Committee Room. The facilities available at the Town Hall can be viewed here. Details of other venues are available here.
Fees and bookings Fees range from £75 to £150 depending on location and the day of the week. To book for the Town Hall ring the Register Office on 020 8871 6121 and we will discuss availability of the rooms, fees and make a booking for you. To book for a venue you are advised to discuss your requirements with the manager then ring the Register Office 020 8871 6121 to arrange the attendance of a celebrant. The fee for the celebrant will be payable at the Register Office. Please be aware that there will probably be fees for your hire of the venue.
Arranging the detail of the ceremony As you make your booking we will arrange an interview at the Register Office. A celebrant will meet you and discuss the ceremony and the choices you can make within it. A deposit of at least £50 should be paid at this time. Before the ceremony can be arranged you will need to show the birth certificate for a naming ceremony and a marriage certificate if the ceremony is for renewal of marriage vows.
