Charges
We are obliged to charge a range of fees for the different services provided by the Register Office. The fee for marrying in approved premises in Wandsworth is set by the Council. Parliament sets all the other fees and regularly reviews them, as set out below.

Certificates purchased at the time of the registration or while the register is still in use

  • Standard certificate of birth, death or marriage - £3.50
  • Short certificate of birth (other than the first issued at the time of registration of birth) - £3.50

Certificates purchased when the register has been archived and is no longer in use

Marriages
  • Fee for giving a notice of intention to marry - £30
  • Fee for registering a marriage in the Register Office - £40
  • Fee for registering a marriage in a registered building such as a church - £47

Civil partnership

  • Fee for taking notice of intention to form a civil partnership - £30
  • Fee for registering a civil partnership at the Register Office - £40

Special marriage and civil partnership circumstances

  • Fee for taking a notice of marriage or civil partnership at the residence of a house-bound or detained person (prison) - £47
  • Fee for registering a marriage or civil partnership at the residence of a house-bound or detained person (prison) - £47
  • Fee for attending the residence of a house-bound or detained person (prison) to solemnize a marriage or civil partnership - £47

Searching of indexes

  • Fee for general search in indexes in the register office not exceeding 6 successive hours - £18

Marriages and civil partnerships in approved premises
Fee for the attendance of registration officers in premises approved by the local authority for marriage or civil partnership.

  • Weekdays - £129
  • Saturday, Sundays and Bank Holidays - £199

Naming and renewal of marriage vow ceremonies

For ceremonies at the Town Hall:

  • Weekdays - £75
  • Weekends - £125

For a celebrant at ceremonies in approved venues:

  • Weekdays - £100
  • Weekends - £150
