The opening of Dimson Lodge 19th September 2007

Dimson Lodge openingIn order to expand an adjacent Nursery School in this area of Battersea and provide an expanded range of services as part of the Early Years Review it was agreed to relocate the Sheltered Housing Clubroom to a nearby under used community hall then called Dimson Hall.

This involved the refurbishment of the old Dimson Hall and full resident consultation with the sheltered housing residents of the Althorpe Mews housing scheme in a very short space of time. Committee approval for this project was given in September 2006  and the formal re-opening of the renamed Dimson Lodge was on the 19th September 2007. The refurbished hall has been well received by the residents.

Dimson Lodge openingThe hall was named after the ex-Chairman of the former GLC Housing Committee Cllr Gladys Dimson and her daughter Dr Wendy Baron carried out the re-opening with Cllr Martin D Johnson. The second phase of this maximisation of facilities is the extension of the nursery, which commenced the day after the relocation of the sheltered clubroom and the creation of a garden for the residents using Dimson Lodge, which has been drawn up in consultation with the residents and will complete in 2008.
