Your charges
Am I entitled to any reductions?

In certain circumstances, you may be entitled to a reduction in your service charges. Each case is treated on its merits and therefore needs to be fully investigated and assessed before being able to tell you whether you qualify or not. Should you wish to discuss your circumstances further please contact the Finance Department (Property Accounts Section) on (020) 8871 6590.

  Housing Benefit

Current government regulations on housing benefit show that Leaseholders do not qualify for any financial assistance towards paying their annual routine service charges. However in certain circumstances, you may qualify for assistance towards paying for major works (where interest in chargeable). For further information go to the Major Works section on this web site.

Discretionary Relief (A Reduction in your Service Charges)

In certain circumstances, the Council may be able to reduce the amount you have to pay for major works, but only if your total service charges for works in the past five years comes to more than £10,000. If this is the case, the council will automatically send you an application form to apply for a reduction. If you think you may qualify for a reduction but have not received an application form, you should ask your Estate Manager, co-operative or RMO to check your account. You should note that service charge reductions are discretionary and only apply to repairs, maintenance and improvement works. Garden maintenance and certain other works are excluded.
