Domestic violence and abuse

The housing department has adopted the following definition of domestic violence: 'Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender and sexuality'.

You must not use or threaten to use violence or abuse, including psychological abuse, against any other person living with you, nor against their children. If you do, and that person or their children have to leave the property because of violence, or threats of violence or abuse against them, we may take steps to evict you from your home.

For further information and advice, including how the council can help you and your family, please see the domestic violence and abuse section of this site.
