Housing emergencies - 020 8871 7490 Housing emergencies are dealt with through the Wandsworth Emergency Control, which provides a 24-hour service. Wandsworth Emergency Control is linked to a team of uniformed staff who can respond to emergencies within a matter of minutes. Since December 1999, the service has held a Charter Mark for excellent service. On average, Wandsworth Emergency Control takes over 200 calls a day and they are able to cope with almost any domestic emergency - from burst pipes to noisy parties, it's all in a day's work. Estate Services aim to answer 100 per cent of calls within two minutes and to respond to any housing emergency that requires the attendance of an estate services officer within 30 minutes of receiving the call. Most council homes are covered by the service. If however your home is managed by a resident management organisation you should check arrangements for emergency cover with your housing manager. Leaseholders calling the service should remember that the council is not responsible for repairs inside their homes. The service will, however, carry out emergency work to prevent a problem causing a nuisance to neighbours. At other times, you should arrange for a contractor to carry out work.
