Crime prevention in Wandsworth
Wandsworth has enjoyed lower crime rates than the rest of Inner London for many years. Despite this good news the level of fear of crime in the borough continues to rise and it this that the Community Safety Division, along with its partners in the borough's Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams, is trying hard to tackle.

We provide advice on all aspects of practical crime prevention, including environmental design, lighting, closed circuit television, alarms and locking systems to a wide range of statutory, charitable and voluntary partners throughout the borough and work closely with them to implement best practice.

Our partners and those to whom we provide advice include the Police, council departments, social landlords and other groups involved in community safety, including Neighbourhood Watches, and Resident and Tenant Associations. We have excellent links with Wandsworth Victim Support, Age Concern, Wandsworth Access Association, London Fire Brigade and public transport providers.

Business crime
Three quarters of all retailers and half of manufacturers had experienced one or more crimes in one year, according to the Commercial Victimisation Survey 2002. Do you know that businesses do not always report crime that occurs on their premises? Or that crime costs businesses upwards of £19 billion per year UK-wide? The Home Office have produced a pack of handy postcard size flyers loaded with advice, links and contacts to help businesses avoid becoming victims of crime. We have a stock of these packs in now. If you run a businesses and would like to better protect it from crime then please call us on (020) 8871 0803 to request a pack and we'll pop it in the post. Visit the Home Office business and retail crime webpage for more information. You can also visit our retail radio web page for information on the scheme and details of how to get involved.
